Twitter can be used to sell a product, to create your own brand or just to become part of a community. You’ve got to stand out, though, if you want to acquire a large following. Lauren Dugan gives five tips to improve your ability to stand above the crowd.
To stand out when sharing the same links that everyone is sharing on Twitter, don’t just copy and paste. You should add your opinion or excerpt the most interesting part of the aricle. Know your followers and share what they’d be interested in hearing.
Ask questions about your area of interest. Besides standing out, you will increase the engagement of your followers. People will be compelled to answer. Don’t overdo this…..it could be tiresome if relied on too often.
Here is one tip that I really enjoy doing on my blog. Dugan suggests that you share tips with your followers. You can get creative and you’ll soon go from “sort of interesting” to “must retweet.”
The most important tip shared was to be yourself. Regardless of the social medium, I believe that this is always the best policy. You are unique, one of a kind. Let your personality shine through. Let your followers hear your voice.
